Lighting Design
The Choreographer can experiment in the privacy of the studio. A composer can work out musical ideas alone or with other musicians. A designer of costumes and scenery can develop sketches on a drawing board. The lighting designer’s images can be realized only very publicly, usually under great economic pressure involving time, space, and personnel.
Doris Einstein Siegel – Lighting designer. Professor Emeritus, Department of Dance, University of California, Los Angeles.
